Calgary, Canada – The city of Calgary is alive with vibrant colors and joyous music on Saturday as over 200,000 people gathered to participate in the annual Sikh Nagar Kirtan Parade. The parade is a celebration of the Sikh community’s heritage, culture, and religion, and is one of the largest multicultural festivals in the city.

The procession began in the morning from the Dashmesh Culture Centre, located in northeast Calgary, and wound its way through the city streets, before culminating in the Prairie Winds Park. The atmosphere was electrifying as people saw marshalled arts, sang and celebrated together.

What made the event unique was that everything from the food to the music was free of cost. Unlike the Calgary Stampede, where visitors have to pay for admission and various attractions, the Sikh Nagar Kirtan Parade is open to all and completely free.
