Two teenagers have died following a head-on collision in eastern New Brunswick, as confirmed by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP).
The incident occurred on the evening of October 6, 2023, when the vehicles collided on a rural road. Emergency services responded promptly, but both teenagers were pronounced dead at the scene.
RCMP spokesperson Constable Julie Rogers stated, “This is a tragic event that has deeply affected the community. Our thoughts are with the families and friends of the victims during this difficult time.” The identities of the teenagers have not yet been released pending notification of their families.
The RCMP is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision. Preliminary reports suggest that weather conditions were clear at the time of the accident, and authorities are looking into factors that may have contributed to the crash.
This incident has raised concerns about road safety in the region. Local officials have urged drivers to remain vigilant and adhere to traffic regulations to prevent similar tragedies. Mayor of the nearby town, Sarah Thompson, expressed her condolences and emphasized the importance of road safety, stating, “We must all take responsibility for our actions on the road to ensure the safety of our community members.”
