iCanada adheres to recognized Canadian and international journalistic standards, drawing guidance from the principles established by the Canadian Association of Journalists (CAJ) and the Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ).
1. Verification & Accuracy
Accuracy is the foundational requirement of every story published under the iCanada banner. Every factual assertion must be anchored in verified evidence:
- Primary Public Records: Government agency releases, parliamentary Hansard, statutory publications, Statistics Canada datasets, and official court filings are prioritized.
- Multi-Source Corroboration: Breaking or contested claims require cross-referencing against independent reputable news agencies and direct organizational statements.
- Direct Attribution: We explicitly identify who made a statement, when it occurred, and where the underlying record is accessible.
2. Fairness, Balance & Right of Reply
When reporting involves allegations, regulatory findings, or criticism of individuals or organizations, iCanada makes diligent, good-faith efforts to contact the affected parties for comment or context prior to publication. When responses are received, they are incorporated into the coverage promptly.
3. Conflicts of Interest & Independence
Our editorial team, contributors, and systems operate free of obligations to political parties, advocacy groups, or commercial entities. Editorial staff are prohibited from accepting gifts, payments, or preferential treatment that could compromise the integrity or perceived impartiality of our reporting.
4. Corrections & Transparency
