Century-Old Lunenburg Boutique to Close, Manager Says Offer Too Good to Refuse

A historic women’s clothing shop in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, is shutting its doors after more than a century in business. Rudolf’s Ladies Wear, a staple for locals and visitors alike, will close when its current owner and manager steps away.

Jane Lordly, who has been at the helm for 40 years, confirmed the impending closure. She described her tenure and the store’s legacy, noting the long history of selling women’s clothing in the town. Lordly said she received an offer for the space that she could not refuse.

The decision ends more than 100 years of operation for Rudolf’s Ladies Wear, a shop that has long been part of Lunenburg’s retail landscape. No specific closing date was disclosed in the remarks, but the message from the current leadership indicates the final chapter is near.
