Remains of 3rd missing person found at same Lanark County property

Third Set of Remains Found at Lanark County Property; Identified as Lawrence Bertrim

Provincial police have located a third set of human remains at a Lanark County property near Smiths Falls, eastern Ontario, and have confirmed the remains belong to Lawrence Bertrim, who was last seen in 2022. The discovery follows prior finds announced by the Ontario Provincial Police, including the remains of a man named Robert Lambert found on the same site in July.

Officers disclosed the latest discovery as they continued investigations tied to missing-person cases connected to the property. Police did not provide additional details about the condition of the remains or the exact location on the property, but emphasized that Bertrim’s identification completes the most recent line of inquiries regarding individuals reported missing from the area.

The OPP first announced the discovery of human remains on the site earlier in August, with a separate prior statement that Lambert’s remains had been recovered at the same location the day before. The agency has not released further context about a potential link between the cases or a timeline for ongoing investigative steps.

Residents in the region have been following updates closely as investigators work to determine how many people are connected to the property and to establish the circumstances surrounding their disappearances. Authorities reiterated that Bertrim’s identity had been verified recently, marking a development in what remains an active and evolving investigation.
